i believe a set of skill depleting 40-42 inch tyres will alleviate these undercarriage damage issues

From my experience they get you further up the creek and you find out how little skill you really have and that it's time to invest in some strong undies and a good quality car air freshner!

probably coupled to some dana 60's too so we don't make pretsels of the the axles.

Yep, I can relate.
I reckon i've lost at least 10% capacity of the fuel tank, which is significant with the CRD.
AND don't start me on the placement of the factory steering dampner

I need to be skill depleted the more confident I am the more damage I do

I thought once u get those the front wheels over stuff, the JK does the rest .

The reality is a jk on 33's has a worse ramp over angle than a stock Patrol and 100 series. Taller tyres unfortuately is your only solution.
