Default Unhappy Rumbles

Evening folks...

Had a search through the past threads but couldn't find anything to help - if I've missed something please point me in the right direction. Otherwise...

I am the (proud) owner of a stock Unlimted Sport, although a couple of niggles have started annoying me. Aside from the clunk and rattle coming from either the seat belt or rear door, and a couple of rattling panels (all covered off already in depth) the latest wierd noise is more troubling.

At around 60km/h, and in neutral, there is a low resonating vibration occuring. Imagine you had some really bass-heavy music and the subwoofer cranked right up!! It comes and goes, most noticable when the vehicle is under load. In a much older vehicle, I'd be checking the exhaust for leaks, but I've only done 5000km so can't be that. Any ideas? I'm taking it back to the stealership next week, but if I can help cut through any BS they are likely to spin me with some expert knowledge from you guys I'll be happy!

Sounds like the heat shield for the exhaust, roughly under the passenger seat. Mine came loose a while ago, just make sure the clips are holding it in place as they can come loose.

Cheers
Jas

OK - a quick update after coming back from the Stealership... Apparently they fixed it - but only until I'd driven out of the car park, and the (surprise) IT CAME BACK!!!

Will see what happens next....!

Could they give you an explanation of what it was - and did they even bother to road test it???

Parky, sounds like the same problem I posted about a while back. I still can't put my finger on the exact cause.

The sound I've got is a rattle / knocking from what seems to be the under the passenger side. It only seems to happen in the 0 - 2000 rpm range under load in any gear.

Would really love to find out whats causing this as turning up the radio may take the noise away but not the worry.

Sounds far more likely to be drivetrain issue, Id put my money on rear driveshaft Cv joint.Have you got a lift kit ? is it 2 or 4 door?
