Default fuel pump or what

G,day all,
I've a 96 Grand Cherokee 4.0L on a recent trip we were cruising along and it was like someone turned the key off and kicked into neutral. So far I've replaced the crank position sensor, both O2 sensors and the fuse for the Auto Shutdown relay. This problem is doing my head in, if I went out and started now it would fire up great and idle right but give 3 or 4 minutes it gives a miss then another and stops, if you try to restart it the thing will run, well, the best way to describe it is like its running out of fuel.
Only code I get is 12. Complete distributor replaced in previous 3 months.
I am at my wits end and cat afford $100 per hour mechanics to get it sorted.
I just want to drive my Jeep!!

Yea i,d say fuel pump, same happened to a mate driving in front of me to the "10" classic at Nundle.HE had earlier probs with stalling/cutting out so had a fuel pump with him and fitting it solved the issue.

Could be fuel pump but thats classic symptoms of dying ignition coil, works ok cold them gets worse as heats up.Corse fuel pumps can do similar thing but coil is easier to test , try swapping in another one ,doesnt have to be speciffically for jeep, any 12v non ballasted coil will do.

thanks I'll give the coil a go first( it's easier to get at!!) then the pump. Did I read here abouts that some jeep fuel pumps are the same as some commodore pumps?

I changed the battery today(dont know why just did) Now the cehck engine light is on and I get a code 27 as well as 12 and55. Not worried about the 12 & 55. But the 27 is Injector # output driver does not respond properly to the control signal. So is this a bad injector? I pulled the lead of the number 4 injector and there was no difference in the engine, should'nt it have run rough as in on 5 cylinders.
