Default Has anyone smashed their rear bar andmanaged an upgrade thru insurance?

Has anyone here smashed their rear bar and managed to pay the difference to upgrade to a metal one?

i'm insured with CGU my bar had a small dent and the left foglight was damaged , i had to get 3 quotes one was for $1650 another was $1627 got a quote from ARB for their rear bar $1150 fitted.The insurence company went for it. The fog light alone was $400+. Its worth giving it a go

It's interesting you mention CGU.
Were one of the companies I looked at when getting quotes on line last year and it said they couldn't insure me because my vehicle is modified (2" lift).
Yours isn't modified I take it?

I smashed my rear bumper up and QBE was happy for me to pay the extra for a steel one. Have also done the same with a front bar on my old XJ. You just need to find a reasonable panel beater.

Cough cough cough !!!, go to spare parts and get a quote on the labour to install and quote on mopar steel bar and pass on to insurance. Its that simple !
