Default No Where To Go!

Despite living in a town surrounded by miles of seemingly endless bush and rocky scrubland there are really very few places to go driving around Central Queensland.

We have a great beach and sand area north of Yeppoon (Five Rocks Area), but no good bush tracks. The ones available are just dirt roads and the ones that were semi challenging have been closed due to public liability fears. Our 4x4 club has access to only one small property, which has been done to death. All other property owners are unwilling to allow 4x4s onto their property due again too public liability concerns, or bad experiences with recreational 4wheel drivers in the past.

Most Rockhampton 4x4 enthusiasts drive the 9 –10 hours to Landcruiser Mountain Park in SE Qld, or just don’t go off road very often.

Anyone know any secret spots within a days drive (8 Hrs) of Rockhampton?

I got 3 words for you;

Chainsaw
Boltcutters
Shovel

Now go hunting for that steep hill and make your own tracks.

Making the tracks is no problem, and I we need a chainsaw as we take a landrover and he just bulldozes the with no regard for his vehicle or his safety.

What i need to find is that steep hill!

My wife's half brother has 30,000(I think) acres near Rolleston. Not sure what if any offroading is on his property.

Rocky i reckon a collection of these 3 items and head for Shoalwater Bay my friend.

Just beware of the unexploded ammo/artillary that's probably lying around. Of course i'm just kidding, but i hear what your saying mate we have the same problem up here in Townsville.

For all the areas of brilliant 4wheeling that could be, the bloody defence force has it all fenced off, man if we had access to just a quarter of what they claim up here it would be heaven.

That being said we do still have a bloody good range of open driving areas here though
