Not a drama.
No i didn't buy a new hood, you make a cut on the factory hood.
I also havn't heard of it being illegal, as many people have this snorkel, and i dont think have had any problems.

Cheers
The tyres do stick out approx 1" with 5" bs on the rims.
I am planning on extending with some flat rubber for the time being.

No such thing as a silly question
There are two major brands of snorkel that I am aware of, one goes along the top of the flare and through a hole cut in the front drivers side of the bonnet - Just cut the existing, not reversible... The other goes through the hole cut in the side of the front guard, between the drivers door and the flare, again, not reversible.
So dont need a new one, unless you want to remove it down the track.

I would recommend the AEV snorkel, as i like how it goes through the side of the hood straight into the airbox. Less turns for the air to get into the engine.

Thanks, that's good to know.
I did do a quick bit of research and also prefer the AEV snorkel because like you say it goes straight into the engine, it also seems to look a bit better in my opinion (compared to the ARB one). I'm sure my Husband would agree.
If he had his way he would make one out of that white pvc plumbing pipe like he has on the last two LandCruisers.

Hi baka JK. Can you tell me what make of recovery hook you used on your Xrox front bar. I have got the Xrox bar fitted to the front of a JK and I cant fit recovery hooks to the front of it in the same position as you as the bar work restricts the positioning of the hooks I have got.
