Default Diesel xj idle high

Hey guys
I am having this issue with the idle going up to 1250rpm usually sits 750-800rpm

When it does this at the lights or when I come to stop i can rev it to 2000rpm + and back off and it returns to 750-800rpm it has increased regularity now and if i come to a stop under compression pushing the clutch in as I slow to 800-900rpm it creeps up to 1000-1250rpm slowly untill I give it a rev above 2000rpm then it returns to normal 750-800.

Following this I've been reading througb previous threads @alamv you say you put 2 stroke oil in your tank to keep the IP happy... I got stuck in a river 5 months ago and after 15mins (fuel tank submerged) sucked water through the fuel lines untill stalled had to prime water through untill diesel again.

My question being if water has been through the injection pump could this mess with the idle 5 months down the track?

Sorry but so far not familiar with internal bits and pieces of the IP pump itself but if it works I don't think there is a problem with it .
Being a "fly by wire" control I would check first the sensors or components that where subjected to water ingress (accelerator pedal for free movement and pedal sensor and lubricate or clean accordingly , wiring loom joining connections, crank sensor on bell housing ). If everything checks out ok have a look at the Maf sensor if clean .....and that's all I can think of for now .
Mine does stays up at around 1000rpm sometimes for a 2-3 seconds after stopping at the lights but it comes back to 800 by itself .Never bothered to check the reasons why I just assume maybe there is mechanical friction of the accelerator pedal components and engine vibration gets it back in normal position . (not sure though).
Rpm is conditioned by IP that in turn is controlled by the PCM according to inputs from sensors .
2 stroke oil all it does it compensates for some of the lubricating additives missing in the diesel fuel since the enviromental push to use cleaner diesel .
Well that's my bit....maybe others come on board to help...let us know .

If during all your playing with the IP, you have moved the lid a very small amount it may cause increased idle problems like this. Probably worth taking the lid off & having a look at the mechanism to make sure it is moving freely.
