Talk with both FRP and HotwireAuto if you have any issues to see what ECU combination you could use for a setup with deletions and tuning
The ECU with security off is apparently off a Dodge Ram. Hotwire said they could only change the Ram one and not the Jeep one.

All the feedback in this topic prompted me to talk to Yeti, then I went through 1/3 of the topic on lostjeeps and now I've ordered an MPPS to tune my WG CRD

How does it work? Does it replace the stock oil filter? What are your oil change intervals now?
I was introduced to this whole 'Bypass' oil filtration system by a guy I work with who is also a director of a company called Protxl https://www.engineoilfiltration.com/ who specialise in these filters on large commercial applications. I have a small Protxl filter on my WK2.

They work by 'bypassing @ 10% of the oil flow from the engine oil pump, to the Bypass filter. The original filter remains & is still used as 100 % of the oil from the oil pump still goes through the standard engine oil filter.

This is my oil after 3500km in my WK2:

This is after two wipes of my thumb:

As you can see ... there are NO contaminants left on my finger ... they have all been removed by the ProTxl filter.

Getting the oil OUT of the engine & back in, I used oil filter caps & oil filler caps from https://insanediesel.com/ I didn't use their filters as I had access here to filters but the quality of their products is to a VERY high standard. Both my WK2 & the WH OM642 use plastic oil filter caps from the factory ... the ones from I purchased from Insane Diesel are machined aluminium with a brass swivel fitting in the top, same with the oil filler caps for returning the oil into the motor.

The above are for the WK2.

These are for Mercedes Sprinter / Jeep OM642.

I used on the WH OM642 a 'Jackmaster' oil bypass filter that I sourced off eBay with 6x brand new filter elements for the same cost as buying 6x elements ! So it was a VERY cost effective way of achieving the same result as the ProTxl filter system but only cost $200 (used) with all the hoses & fittings I needed.

Watching THIS video on the Insane Diesel web site shows EXACTLY why this is a FANTASTIC idea !

https://youtu.be/_r68vLkHn0s

For your WH OM642, Insane Diesel have a complete kit https://insanediesel.com/products/me...il-filter-kit/ which is USD $640 but they have a 15% off sale at the moment.

Wow what a great system. Thanks for the info! I think an engine would last forever with one of these systems hooked up.

How do you know you are getting 600nm?

Hi Kidshorsesme, did you ever try your KTag on the WK2 CRD, I was going to have a go and get a clone interface to read my map file and then have a play with just EGR delete, i.e attempt null the process and pack it back up. I can't tune but I can switch!

The Chinese 'Clone' I have is a Kess V2 ... NOT a clone KTag. I used the clone Kess V2 to read & write the ECU on my WH 3.0 Mercedes diesel only. The WK2 is a bench tune only with KTag, that I paid ECU West $1400 to do ! WK2 I don't think can be done through the OBD port ... whereas my WH CRD was able to read & write the ECU through the OBD port.

I have also just used my Chinese Clone Kess V2 to identify, read & write to a 2007 VW Passat Estate 2.0 TDI. Amazingly simple to do ... and the results are STAGGERING !!! I used dyno-chiptuning.com to modify my file & delete the EGR info but left the DPF still functioning as this car does mainly open highway runs @ 110km/hr ... not much city driving. The tuners claim +35Hp or @ +26Kw increase and +70 Nm of torque. The actual 'seat of the pants' results are quite staggering ... it truly has 'woken up' the 'sleeping' power & torque this little engine really was capable of. Now when driven in sport mode ... it is like driving a different vehicle ! Absolutely NOTHING happened pre tune below 2000 RPM ... and that hasn't really changed .... but NOW, post tune ... when you hit 2000 RPM ... *****OMFG**** ... just WHO would believe a little non CRD TDI could perform like this !!!

This will now be my 'Airport Run' vehicle instead of parking my WK2 out in the sun for a week at a time in the airport. This VW averages 6.2 - 6.47 L/100km and I'm looking forward to see if the new 'tune' actually delivers better fuel economy ?
