Brake replacement WK2 Diesel
I'm getting a vibration when braking from speed, so assume my Rotors are warped a little After 145000km I'm still on the original Rotors/Pads.
Has anyone replaced theirs? Is it worth the cost of skimming the Rotors or put that toward new ones.
Cheers

First off you need to see if your discs are warped, probably not but if you measure the thickness of the disc you will know if they need machining, if undersized then they need replacing, if still in the zone and no scoring then they are okay, your shuddering is more than likely cooked pads or you could have thrown a wheel weight, I just go into Repco and buy a set of FWD Bendix pads been using them for a few decades with no dramas you can also get discs from them as well....... Nothing special about the Jeep brakes theres a lot of snake oil advertising about some of the stuff but its just to get your money.

Weird thing, mine has been doing this, only at speed, like coming down the long steel freeway here in Adelaide, however after I put new tyres and wheels on the other week it all seems to be ok, so maybe a dicky tyre or unbalanced wheel after I rotated them a while back.

In my experience with non Jeep cars, rotors can often warp slightly (or more) - on car machining of the disc cheap and usually gives a good result. I only use a specialist mobile brake guy who’s been around for a long time. Find a good one in your area and they will tell you as soon as they see the brakes.

I would go the other way, replace them. I have just gone through this on my V6 amarok. Discs were getting low but ok, had them skimmed and they were too close and warped in the rear. Brakes are one of the most important things obviously. Why cheapen out. 145k on them, they are done. After market DBA rotors and bendix or DBA pads will probably cost $600-800ish depending on whether you go better performance spec chosen.
Will be far better braking, safer and you are good for another long journey in your Jeep.
