Default Hydro Steering..?

Hey guys well i hav wondered myself but also have mates asking how it work and such but google didnt suply me with what i wanted.

i know hydrolic runs on very high pressures alot higher than power steering but when just say on a buggy (rock crawler) how does it run off a standard engine? a seperate pump or something? i get all how the ram works and stuff just not back at the start with steering and the pumps. when u steer how does it make the pump steer and what not. they are the things i dont understand and would like to know..

thanks

As far as I understand it, you've got an extra belt-driven pump which runs off your motor. the pump pushes the fluids to make the hydraulics work, and the steering box controls which way the ram moves.

I'll need to get a more detailed understanding of it shortly when I put it on the new buggy

no it doesn't run off the standard power steering, it's a separate pump that you install afaik

that's hydro assist

AFIK you tap the bleeder valve of the steering box to one end of the ram and the return line (?) you put in a T piece which you connect to the other end of the ram.
