Disconnect the front prop shaft from the front of the transfer case.
Give it a good twist back & forth to see how much play is in it.
Also lever it in and out to see if there's any end float.
Whilst your there twist the prop shaft to ascertain how much play is in your front diff.

With the handbrake on and transmission in neutral,
grab the tail shaft and twist to feel for backlash in your rear diff.

Now add all these together and that's where that on-float clunk comes from.

Where do you start?
I see you've done the front diff bushes already.
Are the gearbox mounts OK?
Front prop shaft CV good too?
Then it's up to you.

I've rebuilt my transfer case with a new chain and now new front output shaft bearings.
Will look at new bearings for the rear diff sometime this year I guess.

Drive it till it breaks
Or start saving up for some bearings and big labour bills mate

No i havent done the prop shaft cv yet as i didnt think it needed it, famous last words.
As im away atm i havent any tools with me , but i just got under the jeep and played around with the front shaft and got it to clunk , seems to be slack not alot thou in the front CV and its the one making the noise also noticed the joint at the transfer case end had play also before it turned the tranfer case.
So looks like im up for a CV now ( its not clicking or anything whilst driving thou ) only clunk every so often depending on what ur doing with the power.
So i guess im in for both CVs , had a quick look on abay an found its nearly cheaper to buy the whole shaft new.
Any recommendations on where and what brand to purchase , dosent look like jeep perf do them.

Cheers

Try greasing up the front CV B4 replacing, it's a plunger type (might just be dry)
As for the rear CV joint, I've been through two cheaper Chinese one's in two years
I finally settled on an American made rear CV (fingers crossed)
