Most of the cheap brand swirl removal products contain fillers that won't so much remove swirl marks but fill them in so they are less noticable. Meguiars Scratch X is one that comes to mind at a cheap price.
One of my favourites and hopefully I won't get in trouble for posting a link is
Menzerna Super Finish polish.

If applying it with a foam pad, it will remove light to medium marks or if you need it to be a little more aggressive then apply it with either a machine or a mircofibre cloth.
Just remember though if you can feel the scratch with your thumbnail, then it is too deep to polish out. The only thing you can hope to do is to smooth the edges so it is less noticable.
Another great product that I highly recommend is called Poorboys Black Hole Glaze. Its a great product to hide marks between washing and a full on detailing. I haven't bought it for a few years so I don't know where you can get it anymore in Australia but if you google it I'm sure someone will have it.
A good practice to get into is to wash your car with a bucket full of suds and a bucket full of fresh water. Dip your wash mitt (try to stay away from sponges) into the fresh water to wash off the dirt and grit before dipping it back into your suds. That way its not going back onto your paint.
Dry with a waffle weave drying towel not a chamios that way you'll keep your swirl marks to a minimum.
