I use Zaino on mine.

Why? Because I owned my own detailing business doing a lot of show cars for clubs and I've found it gives the best protection for longer than anything else I've used.

For light coloured cars, I use nothing else as it gives a high shine being a synthetic product.

For dark coloured cars I use Swissvax - very pricey but nothing beats it on a red or black car. Their waxes give an excellent wet 3D look.

For products you can buy off the shelf at any auto shop then I recommend Autoglym. It beats anything Mother's or Meguiars have got.

Menzerna polishes for swirl removal, cutting back etc. The others that I mentioned above a purely light polishing and sealant products.

What would you recommend to try and remove/hide scratches on a jk? Maroon colour. Hesitant to try anything too abrasive. When I eventually sell it I intend to get a professional to make it look pretty, in the meantime just trying to keep it looking nice without spending heaps.

Most of the cheap brand swirl removal products contain fillers that won't so much remove swirl marks but fill them in so they are less noticable. Meguiars Scratch X is one that comes to mind at a cheap price.

One of my favourites and hopefully I won't get in trouble for posting a link is
Menzerna Super Finish polish.

https://www.zas.com.au/product/557/m...sf4000_1l.html

If applying it with a foam pad, it will remove light to medium marks or if you need it to be a little more aggressive then apply it with either a machine or a mircofibre cloth.

Just remember though if you can feel the scratch with your thumbnail, then it is too deep to polish out. The only thing you can hope to do is to smooth the edges so it is less noticable.

Another great product that I highly recommend is called Poorboys Black Hole Glaze. Its a great product to hide marks between washing and a full on detailing. I haven't bought it for a few years so I don't know where you can get it anymore in Australia but if you google it I'm sure someone will have it.

A good practice to get into is to wash your car with a bucket full of suds and a bucket full of fresh water. Dip your wash mitt (try to stay away from sponges) into the fresh water to wash off the dirt and grit before dipping it back into your suds. That way its not going back onto your paint.

Dry with a waffle weave drying towel not a chamios that way you'll keep your swirl marks to a minimum.

Just did a detailing course on the weekend and was amazed at the colour of the fresh water compared to soapy water using the two bucket method .
what do you think of the glass / ceramic coatings like Gyeon ? they look good to me although expensive .

If you are worried about scratches on a JK you should buy something more urban...like an SUV perhaps?
Nissan makes a pretty one called a Qashqai which might suit you?

I have to admit I don't know a great deal about Gyeon products. I've been out of the business for about 3 years now but from what I do know they sound like they are worth it if you want to spend a bit of money.

Detailing products are one of those things where you get what you pay for. The more you pay the better the products are. I've got waxes at home that are $400 a jar. Needless to say, the Jeep doesn't get treated with those .

I was only thinking earlier that I never thought I'd be discussing detailing techniques on a 4wd forum.
