I agree with you for a TJ. But these aren't TJs. JK does not have a tub structure like the TJ and there's alot more weight to deal with. 2 door would probably get away with using just body mounted armour but a 4 door might not. The way you'll notice things change is the door gaps begin to shift, particularly the lower gaps get tighter and the quarter panel bends upwards to meet the hood...but hey it can't happen . Who would have thought I'd be relaying an experience I've seen with my own eyes lol I should get a pic to demonstrate it.

the biggest issue I see with barwork is what people consider hard use. different expectations, different results, different products required.

(Stock rubicon rails are more of a scrub rail not a slider.)

Not so if you seen me drive i have stock Rubicon rails and there have taken some good hard hits but if you hit them real hard they will rub up your body panels but anything that close will plus if you weld some pipe on them they work as great step and help keep you away from some stuff that would normally hit your doors

My rubicon rock rails have pipe welded on so I can use them as a step and they flex like crazy with just my body weight, and I only weigh 75kgs

my stock rubi rails have taken plenty of hard hits too and have done the job well. The brackets have a couple bends nothing more than I'd expect after what they have been thru. My biggest prob with them as they sit so close to the body with the wheels sticking out so far you get a lot of stone chips and if you go thru alot of mud your door handles disapear under it. I keep thinking about getting some pipe welded on to help reduce this issue but just never get round to it.

LOL- I came down on them pretty hard and it folded the in to sill pannel
