Default Eaton Trutrack opinions please

Hi All.
I'm going to install a Dana 44 into my XJ soon. I was thinking about lockers and at the moment my thoughts are tending towards something automatic. I have been put off Detroit lockers /lock right etc as my car is light and do not want the back end breaking loose say on a wet twisty road. Is a Trutrack OK? Will it get me over a mound say if one wheel is off the ground? Will it perform better than a good LSD?
Any thoughts appriciated.
Thanks.....Rusty

Eaton/Detroit Truetrac is a "good LSD" not a locker. Great on wet road. If you raise a wheel it will let go.

I have a TT in the rear of my TJ and love it.... traction on wet roads, especially out of roundabouts is astounding .... I have a selectable locker up front to compliment it off road.....
It will act as an open diff if you lift a wheel, but a little bit of handbrake will put some pressure back into it and drive to both wheels will follow.
The way I see it, a TT in the rear will give really good traction in 99% of situations.
A selectable locker will give you perfect traction 1% of the time..... the rest of the time it is open.

I have TT's front and rear in the KJ and I believe the to be an excellent LSD, if you lift one wheel and it spins just apply a little brake and it will grab. The reason I went this way is with the full time 4WD option in the transfer case, I didn't want a locker in the front just incase I or someone else unfamiliar with the car had it locked when on the road and in the rear i don't like an open diff for general driving.

If you are looking for an auto locker, you might see if Richmond Powertrax has a listing for your model. These are similar locker design to the Lock-Right, but they are a "soft locker"....they ramp on and off with less noticeable effect.
I used one in my Pontiac Firebird and it was very easy to drive on the road...only an occasional audible click as it unlocked in a roundabout.....never had a "locker moment" with it.
Probably, a good LSD like the Truetrack is the way to go....
