Default Slow starting Diesel

So have noticed in the last few weeks that when I hit the start button their is a small delay like a second before the big V6 diesel kicks over, I thought it used be fairly instantaneous previously. Now I am no mechanic but I am thinking after seeing the Glow plug light on the dash today that it has something to do with the colder weather and glow plugs been slightly slower to warm. Others thoughts?

I recall reading a post on here somewhere previously that the CRD has some sort of auto heat or glow function, and that's what the delay is.

Yep, mine took a good 1-2 seconds to start this morning. Just colder weather and the glow plugs kicking in.

I've noticed it too with my WH. Usually starts within 1-2 seconds, now taking 3 or 4 seconds in the morning. OK after that. Glow plug light goes out as usual, but definitely taking longer to fire. Had all glow plugs replaced about 3yrs ago. Is it the fuel?

This morning it was 0 degrees. Cranked and cranked till the battery was going flat, would not start!
wondering if it is the plugs, module or the battery?
Another funny thing happened as the battery was going flat; the lights came on and could not be switched off and the ambient temp guage went from 0 to 25! Also, the 'service 4wd' message flashed up. Hope my ECU hasn't packed up as well! Supposed to be heading off to Darwin on Thursday! Local dealer won't look at till next week. Could a diesel service centre fix my problem? Or a Merc dealer?
