Unhappy Spare wheel Licence plate bracket

Just got a set of 245 70/R16's for my 2003 KJ Limited on stock wheels, but it turns out the spare wheel bracket is bent slightly (only recently Purchased and hadn't noticed)

I had read up on it before and was confident the new tyres would fit but they are way off. I want to get rid of the 'Clam shell' but I can't find any wheel mounted brackets for the KJ - Hoping to mount new bracket directly to the bolt holes in the lug nuts.

Any help would be really appreciated! Stuck with the wheel in the boot at the moment (not ideal)

I ditched the plastic wheel cover and made a number plate bracket out of some basic steel which is still attached to the spare using the standard nuts. Not too hard. Main hassle is installing a plug on the wiring so you can remove the bracket to get the spare on and off. No biggie really. Should be a few examples around including in this forum so do a bit of a search. I can take some pics at some point of mine if needed.

I spoke to Joshywoshy about this already he's sent me a drawing of what he did. I've got lights and a waterproof connector for the wires, just need to make up a bracket and wire everything in - still haven't got the plastic cover off yet as I don't have the tools needed but I spoke to a guy at my local mycar who said he'd take it off for me free of charge.

You can actually modify the stock clamshell to allow a 245/70 tyre. I did mine about ten years ago. It involves some cutting of the plastic. And when I went to 255/70s I modded the bracket again, deleting the hinge arm completely, and just kept the rear facial plate, which was bolted to the three tyre retention bolts. Original wiring was retained. I think the thread I put up about how to do it might still be here in the archives, if you search you could maybe find it.
