Can't see them being very cheap on replacement parts and I only really need a couple of bushes. As for the PS fluid AFAIK there are only two other products compatible with the XJ steering system. One of those is Penrite PAS and apparently Burson's own label PS fluid is supposed to be ok but I can't confirm that as I have only heard one bloke on here say it was ok according to the oil manual. But since the Mopar gear is a fair it cheaper than PAS I just went for the one I know that is 100% OK. I am also considering swapping the steering box while I am changing the fluid. Mine has 300k on it and I have one off a donor that should hopefully be a whole lot less mileage than that, considering its been off the road for some time. May ven see if I can get it overhauled before I fit it in; because even at 200k my steering box had some play in it.

On another I was hoping my HID kit was going to arrive today and then could have had some decent light power. As it is both my driving lights now have blown globes. Sure do miss not having them working. I could spend 40 bucks on new halogen globes but seems pointless when I have a HID kit somewhere in transit.

Regards A

Today I pondered my quandary.

I grabbed my scribe, thoroughly cleaned out the recesses for the 'c' clips and pillaged a pair of circlips from those el cheapo uni joints. These circlips are thinner.

Now the uni is free....

I pondered something as well. Decided my R and R of the HB was not going to fit in any of the free time I have left in the days that remain to the weekend trip to Straddie, so brought it to the shop to have them do it. Since they had the tools and I didn't, which was another reason. Paid $200 for an alleged 2 hr job. I have never done a HB on a Jeep, but since I removed the front bash plate for them (yes, to gain time), not sure if that whole job should have taken 2 hrs....

Curious to hear what your opinion on this is...

We had a win on the young blokes XJ tonight. Took the pan off the trans and ran the DMM over the solenoids to find the dodgy one.

Removed the dodgy one and replaced it with a monster!!

The wire connector was backwards too, but it all went in, and when all said and done, buttoned it all up with fresh fluid, cranked the ol' girl into life and lo an behold, she pulled away in D!!!
