Default 1000km Service. Is it mandatory?

I recently purchased a 2011 wrangler and it's just hit 1000km. I went and saw my local jeep/ford/chrysler dealer to book it in for the check up and the service manager told me it wasn't needed and it won't void / affect my warranty at all. Is this true or should I get the clowns to do it anyway?
Cheers

It does not take to long to do, when I had mine done, it did not cost anything. I guess if there is an issue later on they can't say, "well you did not bring it in for the 1000k service".

Yep my dealer said that too a few years ago. SVM Jeep, Artarmon. There isn't a place for the service to be recorded in the service log as far as I can remember. -R

I would have it done despite what they say. They aren't the ones who just spent 30-50k on a new car... All the muck and filings etc from assembly would be swirling around your brand new motor, that can't be as good as fresh oil etc.

I would say as a minimum put new oil and filter in, even do it yourself as it would only cost $50.

Just my opinion though.

Good point but the 1000k service doesn't include an oil or filter change, but I would still have it done as it's in the book (or used to be anyway) sounds to me like the dealer is trying to get out of doing a free service, If they say it doesn't need doing and won't void your warranty GET IT IN WRITING if there not willing to put it in writing and sign it then make them do the service.
Also would be a good idea to pay them to change the oil and filter.
