Default GC - T36 recall - FCA says yes, dealership says noooo

Has anyone had the recall inspection and then to be told you do not need it?

My car VIN was on the list that Jeep released about 18 months ago, FCA customer support says it needs to happen and that if I have alternator issues when driving they will tow the car under the recall.. the dealership did the inspection and told me it doesn't need doing?

FCA were adamant that the dealership meant they didnt have the parts to carry it out, not that it didnt need doing...

It seems pretty straight forward to me, there is a VIN list there is a recall, they repair it.

Yep, my car VIN is on that list, pretty sure thats the list I saw.

FCA said it has to be changed, the dealer said it doesnt - they have submitted a notice to FCA that the recall isn't required.

I'm a bit concerned.

Do you have an issue with it at the moment?

If its on the list, and FCA have advised you are covered, then keep that bit of notice handy for future reference.

Until your car is actually on the back of a tow truck, or you have an upcoming long travel, I wouldn't worry about it. But keep following up on ETA of replacement alternators when you actually go in for a dealer service, as there is still a shortage.

I'm currently still on my temporary aftermarket while their parts are still awaiting for the OEM fixes(shortage globally). Been on it since Jan2018.

I believe you have a late model? so you wont see an issue for a while. Mine is a 2012, with 150k km, before I had issues.

Yes, FCA will reimburse you for Tow Truck(which you need to organise). Yes, you will get a loan car from the dealer. IF your dealer says your not covered for the recall, go elsewhere.

Traveling to Airlie beach in four weeks from Sydney, I did use that with FCA on the phone and they said it should be done.

I will call up FCA again as the deal has stated its not required to FCA. The deal actually said they have the part in.

Its a 2014 model, GC Laredo.

Enter your VIN on the FCA website, and it will list all the outstanding recalls to be done, and what has been done.

Just spoke to FCA, the dealership sent notification to them that it has been inspected and does not require replacing... so the recall was removed from the vehicle. I've asked FCA support to push this up the chain to get information as to why its not required but ACCC/FCA have said it is.

I feel like im apologizing to everyone on the phone "look im not trying to be an arsehole, but what gives here?"
