yeah Nakkas - 4" BUT....i did some initial testing this morning even tho it was only 19 degrees. took it for my usual 20km test run and got the tranny all warmed up - it never got over 180F at the lights and i never switched the fans on. so brought it home and let it idle in "D" for about 10 minutes without the new fans running. the temp creeped up to 230F before i stopped. oddly the temps gained 3 degrees everytime the ENGINE cooling fans kicked on and stabilized in between cycles (im guessing hot air from the radiator being blown back added to the ambient heat around the tranny). i then kicked the fans on to see what would happen. at the end, the result was the new fans only stopped the temperature rise but didnt bring the temps down. i then put it in "P" with the fans on and it crept back down to 185f before i stopped it (without the fans running the temp would not come down). so they are making a contribution as far as stabilizing temps but i can tell already its not enough to cool it down without some airflow on the road. im going to do some more testing of course to confirm what ive seen so far but im thinking its going to take three 6.5" fans with 550cfm each vs the two 4" units running 330cfm each. looks like i might be going back to the drawing board. if 3 bigger fans dont cut it i will put a second cooler in. this is proving to be a very expensive exercise

decided to go straight for the kill and forget any further testing: ordered up 3 spal 6.5" fans @ 550 cfm each. will mount the two 4" units to the bonnet just above the intake to help cool things down there. now to wait another month for the new fans

just an update: after a week of driving around town in pretty hot weather (33-39 degrees) ive confirmed the fans keep the temps in check (only went over 190F once after cruising the freeway and then stopping at a light). without them on its still hitting 220+ and the fans wont drop the temp once that happens (only stabilizes it). so fairly promising that the bigger fans will be just the ticket. fingers crossed it wont need a second cooler.

Looking at those 4" fans behind the cooler makes them look so small. There is a lot of surface area not covered by those fans. Maybe make some sort of cowling.. Back in my turbo days I made a water sprayer for the intercooler. A washer bottle with garden mini sprayers and a switch, which mine was connected to a boost switch. The pump could be connected to a thermal switch. Works well...

yeah, the fans are WAY too small. a shroud is something im considering for the new triple fan setup. will see how ambitious i feel when they arrive. the spray setup is not something i had not thought of but certainly an option - cheers for that idea!
