In terms of fuel consumption, bigger (or more aggressive) tyres will have most effect around town where you do more stop/start driving as a lot more effort is required to get the bigger tyres rolling. This can be overcome to a large extent by re-gearing if you want to (just depends how big you've gone and how deep your pockets are). A more aggressive tread pattern again needs more effort to get it moving than a smoother pattern so that will also increase your fuel consumption. The tread pattern will also affect you high speed fuel consumption as it still requires more effort to keep it moving and it creates drag as the air goes over the tyre. You high speed fuel consumption will also be affected if you lift the JK as again it's creating more drag.
I've just fitted a 2-2.5" lift and gone from stock 31.5" tyres to 32.5" MT ATZ's and I've noticed a 1l/100km increase on the freeway and 1-2l/100km increase around town.

ahhh ok, thanks.
I have a 2.5" teraflex lift coming from the states as we speak, and also a front ARB bar being put on next week. so my fuel consumptio will probably increase
I don't do that much long distance travelling, mainly around town and the occasion 2hr trip north or south to camp n 4wd.
I got my JK down to 8L/100 this morning on my way to work! was amazing! 6th at 80kmh = 1800rpm ha
