Brown Brake Fluid
Hi Guys,
I have recently had my 2010 JK serviced at the Jeep dealership in Osbourne Park, they noticed my Brake fluid is an off brown colour. They quoted me $150 to flush the system I said no and took it to a local mechanic to be done. He said he is not able to fluch the system as you need a computer unit to hook upto the jeep to do so, which he doesn't have. My question is, is this the case and if so anyone no a mechanic in and around Perth that is capable of doing the job or am I best back at the dealer. I just though $150 was a bit steep.
Cheers,
Steve

That's bull, you can bleed the brakes on the JK like any other car, buy a large bottle of brake fluid & auto brake bleeder hose from super cheap & do it your self & save yourself $130
I want a front drive shaft so I can go 4 wheeling

True enough. But, always wise with ABS systems to not just 'leap into it', cracking bleed nipples. Hop in and give the pedal about 20 - 30 firm pumps first. That'll give you a better shot at dissapating any residual ABS pump pressure.

the cost quoted is about an hour's labour plus brake fluid. not a bad price. but yeh, as suggested you can save a bit by doing it yourself.

If there's any residual pressure at the bleed nipple then the brakes would be dragging.
