Default '99 WJ Climate Control Fan not working :(

Bought Jeep from a dealer a month ago - so still within warranty period, but is there anything I can look at myself ? Im about a 2/10 mechanically.

Stopped once a week ago or so and then it seemed to come back on again by itself after say an hour so I dont think its a fuse ?

Currently its completely dead. Any tips ?

Above the passengers feet you will see a plug into the fan speed controller. Chances are the connections will have overheated & burnt out.
Quick fix is to clean & retension the connectors, but for long term reliability a new plug and/or controller should be fitted.
I am still waiting for the new wiring harness (warranty repair) for mine to turn up.

what type of hvac system? there's manual in laredos, auto in limited & overland. the same problem might be fixed differently depending on what type you have.

i had erratic temp control in mine and a software re-flash fixed the problem.

sus out what wrench said & also read this
http://www.wjjeeps.com/climate.htm

and look throught the tsb's & see if your problem is listed
http://www.wjjeeps.com/tsb.htm#HEATING

cheers.

Anyone able to recommend someone in Sydney (City area or Castle Hill) that has done the air con fix... and approx cost ? Im not entirely sure which bit is busted of course.

Mine now seems to work with cold air con, but after say 60 mins running on a HOT day will simply stop. The air compressor (?) under the driver side dash will be cold and dripping, but although there is noise, the fan wont be pushing any air through the vents.

With heating, at first the passenger side would heat, but drivers side blowed only cold air. Now neither side blow heat at all. BUT - wait for it - last week all of a sudden both sides started blowing hot air, but of course that lasted until I stopped and now back to no heating.

The flap that deals with recirculated air I pulled out months ago.

Passenger side seat heater works, drivers side doesnt... Any tips on this one ?

Gotta leave Heeps.

I had this problem a month ago and its the fan resistor pull out the connector and you will see it melted on the connector clean it up and bent the contacts properly and it will work, the other I would do is open the resistor square black box on the passenger side feet area two screws hold it and solder the wires directly to the circuit board.

If any issues Im in sydney cbd during the day if your close by we can meet up and Ill show you, otherwise the dealers will charge for the fan resistor $350 plus(not neccessary) auto electrician labour.
