HI,

It's not the ride so much, although it is nice on air! But the ease for setting up your van for hitching and unhitching.

Have med lots of Jeep owners whilst vanning who wished they'd got the Q/L.

Lots of electrics in the Jeep to go wrong, not just the Q/L!!

The clearance in Offroad 2 mode is amazing...very high.

The trick is to find a demo with Q/L and Luxury Pack (vented seats, my favourite), already on it. Saw one on Carsales with both, a Limited, for $64K. We bought a demo like that - saves lots of money on new and you get the goodies!

But comes down to your choice!

Cheers,
Sally

You missed an option. Track down a Trailhawk. Best version they've made .

Totally agree with Sal, the QL is just what is needed. Think of it this way, in everyday driving the car drives like OEM, you put your van on the back, the QL compensates for the extra weight & again car feels like OEM & vehicle is back to OEM ride height. Then you pack the car for a weekend trip camping with a lot of weight... QL again adjusts for a OEM ride, then when you get there you unload & go driving, again QL adjusts for the loss of weight... again back to OEM comfort ride. There is NO way a spring system can do this... even with supplement assist air bags, my last 4WD as a fully loaded GU Ti Patrol, I changed the suspension 4 times & changed the shocks 7 times trying to sort the suspension in 7 years.... it was still never right, either to stiff, too low, too rough unloaded or sat to low when winch went on. I spend so much time stuffing around I eventually went to AIR BAG replacement under it, which was the best & why I jumped at QL.
If you haven't experienced it for a while you cant appreciate it. Yes I am sure it will be expensive to repair but the ride quality & adjust-ability in my view out weights this, besides when the system does start to fail there will be aftermarket replacements available.
Get it.... you won't regret it.

Now read the other thread on coil suspension... http://www.ausjeepforum.com.au/forum...=134832&page=2
ESPECIALLY POST #43
I have never herd of a QL having these problems.

Keep in mind that the sprung version has self adjustable Nivomatt rear shocks.
My 2.7 ton boat pulls the arse end down when I hook it up, but self levels once driving.

Cheers, Craig

Hi Dull, we have a 2013 Laredo Diesel.Until this year it was shopping duties only.

This year it has been pressed into service for more 'touring duties'.We tow a hybrid camper, weighs 2200kg fully laden, around 260kg on ball. It's the 5 speed auto. Without trailer I never cared about extra gears. Towing, I reckon a 6 speed would be perfect. 8 speed - no idea, have heard that you need to drive them in a lower gear when towing as it strains the auto, but no expert.

We have had Murchison lift and there is no noticeable deterioration in ride but gives a bit more room underneath. We purchased a second set of wheels that we will add some AT or MT to in the next few months. Standard Michies are great on road, rubbish off road.

Had Murchison tune and exhaust (and just installed a Provent catch can). Maybe slight increase in cabin noise, pulls the van better, and better fuel economy. Prior to Murchison upgrade we got 8.3lt/100 for our mix of driving, just under 8 now. (I got 6.6 from Gungahlin in Canberras north to Engadine in Sydney South - all smooth hwy and downhill ). Towing hwy 12.2/100 but average is around15/100.

Have seen the QL in action hitching and unhitching. Very nice. With reversing camera its pretty much all done from the drivers seat. We are happy with what we have, so whilst its awesome I wouldn't buy a car just for that feature.

Like you, we are wanting to use and tow with our Jeep, but not the extreme stuff. 3 months in Kimberleys next year is our first biggie. Tyres, UHF, protection plates and driving lights are all on the list for us before then. If you can find a car with half this stuff on it to start with I would get that over the QL. We Spent $7K so far and probably another 3 to 6 to go as funds allow !
