Default Got the Jitters, real bad!

G'day all,
I need help / advise, when driving between 60 and 80 km (on roads full of potholes) my front end just goes crazy, the shudder / jitters in the front end are so bad that it feels like its about to fall off, about 4 - 6" of movement side to side.

Its only just started to happen but is getting worse, so much so that its undrivable and damn scary (being an ex-paratrooper I'm used to thrills and a rush but this crap).

Today I've had all 4 tyres balanced and a wheel alignment done, everything is tight, the bearings and power steering are all fine (checked by a mech), the only thing I can think to do is to try a new steering dampner.

Its a 2000 model, with a TW HD3 Lift, Roncho RX 9000 and a RX5000 dampner, currently on 31"s moving to 33's next week. I've only done 25 thou on the clock (it was parked for 3 years).
Its got me stumped and my mechanic is almost out of ideas also.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Red Teej i was experiencing the same thing. It turned out to be something to do with the panhard rod. A bolt had snapped and was stuck in the housing, they removed the broken bolt retapped, replaced the bolt and all is back to normal. Dont ask me what any of that means, just going off what they told me. I know..... the wobbles ain't much fun, very very scary!!!!

Have you tried going back to TW, he may have some insight. Since its his kit, and will have installed lots of them, he may have this problem before. If not, he may have some suggestions.

Is it only on dirt roads? Maybe check you're tyre pressure's to make sure they aren't to high this can cause real probs on uneven roads.

Ahh the lovely Deathwooble.
Let me start with a steering stabaliser/dampner when worn out will NOT cause DW, but a new one will help mask it. I helply recommend you look to fixing the DW before simply fitting a new one.

Likely culprits are:
Wheel balance out.
Incorrect alignment (usually the toe setting is the culprit - but don't ignore your caster setting either).
Worn/damaged tierod or draglink or panhard (tackbar) ends.
Loose trackbar (eg broken bolt).
Bent tierod/draglink (will usually show in incorrect toe settings).
Worn/damaged hub bearings.

Hope that helps.
