Default DIESEL CONVERSION

Hi All, as we sit and watch petrol prices go through the roof, I've been thinking of options for my TJ. As most would attest, they're very economic and when you use it as a daily driver....
Anyway, I'm considering replacing the straight six gussler with a diesel from a Hilux or similar. Maybe a 3lt turbo or the likes! Has anyone done this or know someone who has done this?? Keen to find out!

I know nothing.. but if you end up going ahead with it.. Im sure many would be keen to know how it went.. I personally love the idea of the TJ being a TURBO DIESEL

Andy went the other way.
He had a Diesel hilux until 3 years ago and went to unleaded.
Diesel ain't as cheap as it used to be. A small diesel engine still uses alot when driven hard.

I'm of this opinion too. Diesel seems to be more expensive than unleaded most of the time. Factor that in with the shorter service intervals plus the cost of the conversion and i dont think it would be worth it.

Thanks all, I appreciate everyones opinion. :P Still thinking that the economy of a diesel will outperform that of a petrol donk. Mate of mine has a Peugot turbo diesel and gets 1000kms from a 70lt tank. What sort of mileage do others out there get with their TJ? Full tank... 350 - 370kms max!!!
