Yah, the V6 drones something awful if you don't have the right muffler. Mine is a smaller one for clearance & is bad for that. Will get a better/bigger one when funds permit.

Default Fitted Blackjack Welding front recovery points

Finally got around to fitting my Blackjack Welding recovery points to my Mopar front bar.

Took me a couple of hours to remove the crush cans, mainly due to my lack of appropriate tools and skills. I hacksawed off all but the last couple of inches of the cans then used a Dremmel with a cutting disk (many in fact!) to cut through the spot welds. Then bashed the remainder of the cans off with a hammer.

There was some residual weld left on the bar so I ground that off with an angle grinder, amazingly without setting fire to anything. Some metal primer and black bumper touchup paint (damn grinder) and the recoveries were a dead easy bolt-up.

Topped off with a couple of Ironman shackles.

That actually makes the mopar bar look good.
For future reference you can buy 4" 100mm cut off discs for the angle grinder, they are about 1mm thick and cut through thin(or thick) plate like butter. Would save a heap of time and money on the little dremmel discs.
Matt.

CRD has a totally different exhaust noise without its rear muffler. It drones just like the V6.

Extend the pipe from under the vehicle to out the back and alot of the noise in the cabin will go away.

From outside though there will be a noticeable increase in noise. The stock exhaust sounds like fast moving air. No muffler sounds like a 4cyl turbo diesel with no muffler.

I'm thinking alot of people are tone-deaf.

I can certainly hear the difference in mine without the muffler. Extending the pipe out behind the cabin has helped but it is still louder inside, but not bad. It's obviously louder outside as well but not offensively loud.

I think the turbo spools up a bit quicker without the muffler so it seems to have a fraction more get-up-and-go and lower revs though didn't notice any difference in economy.
