Default New camper in the works

So my teardrop camper, finished in 2008, is getting a bit small now as we have a 6 year old daughter that needs her own bed. Because of this we've gone back to tenting, and after putting up the tent in the rain at Coffs my dislike for canvas has only grown and I want to go back to hard wall camping.

After several late nights with google sketchup I have a new design. The brief was it has to be light enough to tow with my Rubicon 2 door (looking at around 900kg), has to have a full size double be and full size single bed, room to stand in it, have a simple kitchen, plenty of storage and be self sustaining (solar powered) for at least a few days.

Most importantly it has to fit in the garage and be quick to setup with no or minimal setup.

Here it is, it's under 2m tall with the roof down and 4.4m long tip of the draw bar to the tail. With the roof up there is 1.95m of head room, both the beds have the head under the pop up roof so it is not claustrophobic. The door is dropped down 10cm to allow for a larger door, it's in front of the wheel so the draw bar protects the drop and it doesn't limit departure angle.

It will be made out of a thin ply (A face) inner skin, 25mm foam core and an external 2mm fiberglass sheeting (the skin will be one piece on each wall so no joins on walls etc). There'll be some luxurious we didn't have in the teardrop like the single bed that converts for seating and a under floor water tank.

Sitting

Now to clear out the garage so I can get started

Cheers
Steve

Looks good Steve. I know your previous camper inspired a few people here and abroad and this should be no different. Kids do make things complicated, I've got 3 of 'em to fit in!
