There should not be any widespread torque converter issues with an 07 as it would have been built after the recall F37 fix on earlier models (especially the 05s), and would have the more robust torque converter in it from the factory. My 07 has no problems what so ever, and never has.

Look at Wilmo's KJ FAQ sticky, where it talks about the transmission issues:

http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...ad.php?t=67074

You can check you VIN number against the range affected. After that I will concede that there maybe the odd 545RFE that develops problems, just as other brand autos do from time to time.

If you feel it is dangerous, don't drive it, get it fixed under warranty and/or get rid of it.

The 545RFE has been used for years in these vehicles:

* 2001– Jeep Grand Cherokee (4.7L, 4.7L H.O., 5.7L Hemi)
* 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty (2002-early 2003 3.7L, and all diesel applications)
* 2003– Dodge Ram (3.7L, 4.7L, 5.7L Hemi)
* 2003– Dodge Dakota (4.7L, 4.7L H.O.)
* 2003- Dodge Durango (4.7L, 5.7L)
* 2006- Jeep Commander (4.7L, 5.7L Hemi)

There are some very powerful units driving through the 545RFE over a long period of time. I certainly accept that the torque converter was suspect in some percentage of the KJ population, but that does not mean we all need to rush out and scrap our Jeeps.

Glad to hear your not having problems, or is that yet. The tranny is a strong one, im happy with that and that it has stood the test of time, we know about the buckling plate on the valve body and its other issues that we can sort out, as for the TC, well it still wasn't right when they put the one I got in.

MY problem, It was a very definite clutch engagement that locked up up the drive train whilst at the lights, idling in drive and thank goodness the brakes still worked properly.

Re your comments on the models and issues Glenn, I know, that's what I thought when I bought it new, but guess what its happening.... and exactly as described for the 2005-2006 models (does this suggest something).

Dont get me wrong.... I didn't buy it coz I don't like them now did I. But im not happy its doing the things that were supposed to be fixed for this model.

all fixed HEMI TC installed.

UPDATE: 1500 Kilometres, going strong.
UPDATE: 3200 Kilometres, still good, includes a trip of 1600 Kilometres @ 8.9 litres per Hundred Kilometres. All kinds of driving included in this run and all kinds of velocities.

I've had a 2007 3.7lt since new, and it's always needed some go-pedal to make it roll--even on flat ground.

Well if you have had the quick learn and tranny serviced and they reckon its right then you are probably talking about the stock standard mushy chrysler type setup. Done to reduce heat build up at the lights and stuff like that.

If they reckon its right and you dont like the way it is then consider a shift kit for your tranny. Talk to a transmission specialist for that, someone experienced with your type of tranny. While your at it consider a tranny cooler as well just for that bit of extra protection.

You probably cant apply all the fixes/mods until out of warranty though. I might be wrong, perhaps the dealers would do something for you, all you need is $$.

By the way the CRD seems to go just by letting your foot off the brake, except for the first thing in the morning at the moment, each day is an adventure of how its going to behave.

Installed the HEMI TC and its improved, Ill catch up with the drain back when I do the next trans fluid/filter change out.
