Default Slanting headlight issue - Headlight bracket possibly the issue?

Hi guys,

I recently had some J.W. Speaker headlights installed in my 2010 Jeep Wrangler JK. However, a few days after the installation I noticed that both headlights were/are slanting to the right. The slant of both headlights is noticeable due to the angle of the J.W. Speaker internal red lettering/logos. Photo 1109 is the left headlight, which slants in towards the vehicle and 1112 is the right headlight, which slants outwards of the vehicle. The left (1109) headlight has the greater slant. Please see photos attached.

Before I physically investigate the issue further (remove the grill, the headlight retaining ring and headlights) I thought it would be best if I raised the issue here, see if anyone else has experienced a similar issue and what they did to fix the issue.

From an initial inspection, I think the issue may be to do with the headlight mounting ring behind the headlight, which the headlight sits in and the headlight retaining ring screws into. The headlights themselves are firmly in place and do not move. Which furthers my theory that its the headlight mounting ring that is causing the issue, has moved.

I hope it's a simple case of removing the grill, headlight retaining ring, the headlights and rotating the headlight mounting rings to the right to realign them horizontally. Does anyone know if this is the likely solution? Does the headlight mounting ring attach to a greater apparatus behind the headlight assembly, that can be removed/loosed by removing some screws?

If anyone has experienced this or a similar issue, I would greatly appreciate productive feedback.

Cheers.

Sorry, guys,

I don't know why the two photos I included in my post have rotated from the correct way up. Does anyone know how I can correct this?

Cheers.

Tried to edit my last post and broke it. Can you rotate them? if the locking ring isn't holding tight.

Having played with my lights in the past, not much else in the assembly can rotate by itself. Have to be physically adjusted..

Do you mean rotating the headlights themselves?

What do you mean by locking ring? The headlight retaining ring?

This bit, probably goes by lots of names.

One set of lights I purchased were loose with that ring screwed down tight. Not all that noticeable but it was enough to allow the light itself to rotate in the housing. Fixed it with some silicon behind the ring.

But after re reading your first post it looks like you have checked that.

That's what I refer to as the headlight retaining ring.

In your example, the headlight retaining ring must have been so loose, allowing a gap of at least 10 millimetres or more, for the headlight to be displaced out of the headlight mounting ring, which has slots designed into it so the alignment lugs on the back of a headlight can be installed into these slots and then be secured in place by the headlight retaining ring.

So you used some silicone behind the ring (headlight retaining ring), essentially glueing the ring to the headlight?

All that ring does, is hold the headlight in the mount.

There are locating lugs on the back of the light that slot into the housing behind it to set the rotational alignment.

Some lights are smaller in diameter than the rings & come with foam to stick on the outside edge to secure them fully.
