Whilst I DIY my brake controllers had a mate with a Ford Ranger last year 2019 asking me to install and the local shop I knew of did a complete install with the wiring harness matched for the Ford at $680 ish. Which I said was good value as they must buy the tow pro in bulk etc. Never had the tow pro as stayed with tekonsha p3 (inside centre console forward vertical face given cheap to buy and install at the time). The redarc little dial is an absolute winner though for any modern cars vs the P3 which by the way is well over ten years old now so I stayed with what I knew perhaps. 1k is a tad rich to me so shop around would be worth a couple of hundred in your pocket.

I like the P3 as I can see voltage and other data, the panic lever is easier to manipulate than the button I found, if needed that is..... Redarc does seem to come with a brand tax nowadays which is a shame.

I Haven't tried out the Redarc yet, but the installation looks pretty good.

Anderson plug will come in handy to recharge batteries and keep fridges cool.

I'll keep shopping around for the 20l drum of tranny fluid.(Gulf Western), as $278 is still a bit pricey for me.

If anyone sees a special, can ya drop a line in here and I'll go and grab some.

Well at present Supercheap has the following listed GW Syn TS ATF (special order) works out at $13.89/lt, Penrite BMV at $18.49/lt and Nulon LVSYNATF is $15.74/lt so waiting for the 25% off is the time to go shopping ........

Whatever brand you must make sure it has ZF 6-8 speed spec mentioned.... ignore recommended listings as they get the models mixed up ... engines, gearboxes in fact just ignore them entirely.

Another engine oil that looks the goods for the VM motor is the Mobil 1 5w40 HD diesel appears to tick all the boxes for new specs etc.Geez I would have to go out and get a job to afford it. Just monitoring the other WK GC sites here and in the US and the number of failures in these motors is increasing. GDL Automotive in Sydney ,world wide pie charts breakdown on failures is interesting ! Whatever the cause even well serviced ones are failing! As I have said before major oil companies in Aust still listing 5w30 as ok.Urgent Viscosity change was in 2016 plus a 5w40 label was to be put on the filler cap!plus a software update to the ZF auto to smooth out changes and make it easier on the crankshaft. Another point
is beforefore starting after an oil change leave vehicle fifteen minutes to let oil drain into thr motor.

How important is it to Use 5W-40 ?

I'm now running 10W-40

I live in Perth, so never gets very cold, so would 10W still be OK ?

I guess it's more about how fast the oil circulates around the engine on startup, so does our engine need the 5W ? Or will 10W still whizz through the oil pump and wet everything fast enough ?

How long have you lot been using 10W oil for ?
