Default Is your rear parking sensor third party?

Hi

I recently picked up a grand cherokee 2012 Laredo and added the parking sensors

I'm bit surprised that the optional sensors are not integrated into the touchscreen unit or the dash display

It's a third party device and the sensor unit has a display which is attached on the inside windscreen

I'm wondering if any new owners also have this? And are all optional accessories like parking sensors third party decices and non jeep products?
Or it's just this dealer that does third party?

Cheers

That sounds like a dealer add on and not out of factory. Mines integrated into the dash ... Both front and back sensors.

All front and rears 12 sensors work full time. Ie stop at traffic lights and a pedestrian walks in front, it will beep and mutes the stereo speakers as well as cluster displays the sensor.

I'm sure most other dealer makes fit non factory units like yours after delivery....

thanks imaz for the info

i'm quite dissapointed with the dealer that i've paid for the front and rear sensors only to find out on the day of delivery that they installed a after market one

the worse part is that the aftermarket front sensors only activate when you put the gears into reverse, so its useless as a front sensor.

Quite annoyed as i bought the sensors for the wife to make it easier for her as we had a smaller car in the past.

I will take it up with the dealer as they should of consulted me first before making silly decisions like this on my behalf without knowing the reasons behind getting the sensors in the first place.

Yeh I wouldn't be happy. The most I would pay for after markets would be $300... I know some after markets would allow a switch or button to activate the fronts so you don't have to be in reverse gear. See what your dealer can do....
