Default Smooth sailing.......
I have decided to hang on to my Cherokee for a bit longer, it has done about 120K now so I figured its time for new shockers and other suspension work to restore the ride quality.....at the same time I thought I might look at getting a bit of a lift to allow me to fit larger then standard tyres when these ones are due to be replaced.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestion on what I should do, the Jeep is a virtually stock standard '96 petrol Cherokee and spends a lot of its time on the bitumen with occasional trips along bush tracks or on the beach so I am not looking at anything too radical....what shocks?...Bilstein, Ranchos?, new coils or have these reset?...etc, etc...appreciate any thoughts.

If you want the lift and are replacing the stock tyres, the next size up is 31" and you will need atleast 2 1/2" lift to fit 31" with no problems. Your in Brisbane, give Pete at Footo's at call, he knows his stuff. http://www.westside4x4.com.au/

Wouldn't the next size up be 235/75/15 or 30's for a bit bigger still? Easier to fit than 31's with the 30's fitting on a 2 inch lift.

Ive put on 235/75/15

polyairs in rear and 2.5 inch higher springs in front

polyairs allow me to lift rear of vehicle if needed when towing and loading up for a trip. Had them on for almost 2years without a problem (touch wood )

when the car is empty I run 20lb in them which holds the back up level with the front and I dont get the harsh ride of lifted heavy duty leaf springs.

235/75r15 is a good size without having to go excess lift & fouling. 31x10.50r15 looks great but seem to need 2.5 -3 " lift & flare trimming. This lift can cause alignment & driveline probs so the cost just keeps going up.
P.M me & I can tell you what I found worked well on my 97 XJ without spending a fortune.

have you looked at the ARB replacement springs and shocks? great warranty anywhere in oz and better the stock ride... worth a look i think..Cheers
