JM - Q - The fact is now I cant even have anyone else repair my engine .....Chrysler wont release those findings officially.
Sure I could rebuilt my engine but if there is a computer fault as they say....
.....Or,was it this or a bearing failure? (if it was a collapse) which could cause the piston to move ether ahead or behind its normal stroke path also causing incorrect injection timing? Only Chrysler knows.-Q

JM - Perhaps take this issue one step at time. Separate yourself from the emotion and the engine/failure repair costs and who pays - just for a little while.

We have already established that you can't legally fight a car company over a car BUT what about you seek legal advice as to compelling Chrysler to release engineering information about your cars failure to you. This is a whole different kettle of fish.

Remember, and this is important, when they examined the car it was property owned by you - they had no claim or caveat over it. You gave them permission to examine it in the clear belief and understanding that you would also be privy to the results of the information they gleaned. The fact that you did not pay them to do an investigation is neither here nor there. The diagnostic information they took from your cars computers, the facts and figures of what happened to your property is yours as is control of that engineering information.

I also suspect that there is a legal obligation on Chrysler to make available to you [or any other owners] the means to have their car diagnosed computer wise with Chrysler soft ware at any of its dealers. This may be free or it may cost you but it should be available regardless of circumstance.

Another car manufacturer fell into the same hole when it tried to restrict computer diagnostic soft ware to franchised dealers only. This was legally overturned and they had to make the soft ware available for purchase to any non franchised work shop who wanted to buy it.

What do you reckon?

Would these noises have been due to the same problem that has caused the engine failure does anyone know? If the answer is yes, in my opinion it's dead simple - it was their mistake for not fixing the problem so Chrysler should pay up. I guess it'll be hard to prove/have chrysler admit the noises might've been related

That warranty you quoted on a new engine is appalling!!!! 20000km on a brand new Chrysler engine, or 70,000km on an aftermarket remanufactured one!!! With that pricetag too, I'm absolutely disgusted.

Well I can tell you one thing they just lost one sale i was going to purchase 3.0 crd next week until I read this night mare, not worth the hassles. I don't know what their profit margin is but DC and my local Jeep dealer has just lost a packet. I suspect that I would not be alone if others have bothered to check on the reliability of these vehicles from current or previous owners before going ahead with their purchase.

Interesting................
And you think I would ever want to work for this company again jenko????
As you know I've all ready given you some of my views from the other side, but this latest BS has just astounded me.

I still wonder how different this would be it it was a stock motor with no modified performace chip???????
I'm just glad I dont have to be the middle man in this shit anymore.
Good luck, but unfortunitly you do need it.
