I remember a mate of mine saying the same thing about Landrover a few years back, I really think they are all the same.

I have heard the new Nissans and Hilux's are having problems to it is bound to happen when strict world wide emission laws are forcing the trusty old simple diesel engine to change to complex hi tech crd's.
The problem I have is there is no reason for the over the top prices for parts the crap customer service and they just dont seem to care.
Take the turbo hoses on the KJ and JK crds they last 40,000kms then they blow any other company would have recalled them jeep are still putting them on the current models.

CRD technology has been around for a long long time in larger diesel engines such as prime movers, mining and marine

I think almost everyone would agree with that comment... I do hope its just a ruff patch they are going through like they did in the early to mid nineties with the ZJ/ early XJ era Dont get my wrong I love XJ's and dont mind the ZJ's but the nuts and bolts of it is they did have a lot of issues with the cars and they did pick up there game with the WJ / KJ release however it feels like they have taken 1 step forward and three back at the moment

I think that their actual cars are good or at least no worse that any others. I have had a jeep (of one sort) now for over 10 years. Have I had problems with them - yes I have but nothing that could not have happened with an other brand. The only problem I have is that Jeep's post sale customer service is abysmal and the price of their parts from most of the dealers are a joke. You just need to have a look at the TSB's that are listed for the US and then have look what they do here (which is normally ignore them unless the customer complains) to get the picture that Jeep Australia doesn't care about the customer once they have bought one of their cars. If they picked up their post sale service and price their sare parts in live with the US, I reckon they could do really well here. Just have a look at Toyota - when they first started bring cars here, they where very cheap and nasty (some might say they still are) but their customer service generally was and still is excellent (mind you I still would not buy a jap car if I had a choice but that is for personal reasons).

Car company's are all the same, was just talking to a bloke on my last trip with a 200 LC done about 20,000k's and he's on his 3rd fuel pump and all they tell him is buy better fuel and won't tell him any findings, and this is his 6th LC from the same dealer!
Then the owner of the LC spoke to a rep. of Caltex and he said that they (Caltex) had to refine there diesel more now to meet the requirements of new CRD engines.
Maybe technology is advancing to fast!

All the best Jenko.

Dont get me wrong I loved my xj I was going to buy another one but the kj crd I bought was to good a price to pass up. I dont mind if my cars break I enjoy fixing them but the prices jeep Australia want are a joke and there are bugger all aftermarket parts for the KJ's in Australia so im dreading the next time it breaks now because it could cost me more than the car like Jenko's
