50mm lift and "front shaft at an angle"
I have just had a 50mm OME lift put in. Ended up 30mm or so, which I'm happy with. I have also put in some JKS disconnects.
It's a 2003 WG nearly 300k on the clock so I know there is going to be some things that need replacing. The engine (2.7) is good and going strong.
I had it off road the last month before the lift and going up steep inclines I could hear a kind "clicking" (not grinding) coming from underneath. I assumed it was the front shaft CV or maybe an issue with the transfer case. But the noise stopped after reaching the top of any incline. It wasn't really loud, but I could make it out. I drained and put in new lube (yep, the right stuff).
Anyway, I had the lift done (I'm in Canberra) and right away the same noise, but louder and vibrations.
I took it to the mechanic who is going to do a rear wheel bearing for me and he told me the "front drive shaft is at an angle due to the lift. The lift is too big. These don't like being lifted."
He had lectured me a few days before not to get the lift as "Jeeps don't like them". He said I needed to get "adapters" or some such thing for the front drive shaft as the lift (30mms) had put it at an extreme angle and it was banging on god knows what.
Huh?
It's a 1.1 inch lift! I've read about guys here doing four inches. am pretty damn sure this is the front shaft CV?
Thanks,
A

I had 50mm, no worries. Check your cv, maybe it's on the way out. Mine clicked, vibrated and died at 220k kms.
Also get a new mechanic, he's no clue what he's talking about.

And get yourself a new mechanic, that one is a tosser. And don't listen to a general mechanic about suspension dynamics, go to a suspension or steering place. And I don't mean a tyre stop, they are not suspension experts. A Pedders with a good owner would be OK contrary to some opinions if you are not within access of a good suspension or Jeep specialist.

Most likely the boot at the tcase end of the shaft is rooted. Pretty common at your milage. A small lift will slightly accelerate the rate of wear too bit not THAT dramatically.
The cv isn't that expensive and is easy to change.
