Hey Alex, congrats on choosing a KJ, top ride (especially if you're planning to get it dirty!). You've just missed an MJOC meeting as we get together on the last Tuesday of each month @ 19:30 at the North Balwyn RSL off Doncaster Rd in North Balwyn -Melway 46G2, light dinner (think Pizza, pies etc) is usually provided from around 19:00.
MJOC is totally worth at least a look as the meetings are informative (usually including a guest speaker or two), very well run by some great sorts with plenty of pics vids and reports to get the juices flowing as well as an open forum to ask what else you need to do to your KJ (the president also drives a KJ!).
Sorry that sounded a bit too promotional; I'm a member of 2 clubs presently and that's how I feel.
Anyway make the most of the search function on this site re the upgrades (filter it by KJ/cherokee etc) and you'll get an idea of what's on offer and what's good. ARB do sell some very good product although I suspect not all of their accessory installers love their jobs to the same level.
Give us an idea of your intended usage of the Jeep, like how many road kms vs recreational kms and we should be able to help point you in the right direction re tyres, lifts accessories etc. Also let us know what tyres your KJ has currently as you may need to go on a couple of trips (or more) before you decide whether you're OK with All Terrains or you'd rather put up with a bit of extra noise etc during the week for more capability gained on the weekend from some Mud Terrains.
Looking forward to seeing your new pride and joy plastered in mud!!
Oh yeah an UHF radio is going to be on your shopping list, if you think you'll be doing this more than once a month consider a radio mounted in your car. 5 Watt is good
