Of course the different gear boxes would be the reason, getting slow in old age I think, Merc box compared to a ZF certainly means the whole housing would be a different animal and since the yanks only got the ZF explains lack of part number easily found.................... I wonder of its the same as the Merc WH ???

Spoke with Tam at All Grand Cherokee.
2x Starters ONLY applies to '13 models and is directly attributed to the 5spd to 8spd changeover.

900klm round trip to pick up 'Gina'...dodged 27,364 'roos on the way down in the hire tonka toy (size reference) as I left an hour before sunrise.
Got there and was asked 'why I had ordered and paid $350 for a second hand Starter Motor...."say what ???"....new from the Dealer was $380....hmmmmm.....but...it kicks over faster than it ever has....perhaps a recoed job ???....perhaps my old Starter had been 'shagged' from purchase...unknown.
Home in 10 hours for the 900klm round trip and Im a 'bit shagged' too.
Open the rear cargo door to remove some things we had bought while down there but couldnt fit in the tonka toy hire car to bring home.....oh dear.....ALL the underbody factory armour plus bolts is staring me in the face....FFS.
Ring the Workshop that did the job and asked the question.....response..."No way....Ill call you back...we will pay to have that fitted".....5 minutes pass and the Workshop asks the question..."Was your car anywhere else before we got it ???".....yep...the RAA towed it to there Workshop then told me they couldnt do the job....."Well that explains it....just tore my worker a new arsehole and he swears he didnt remove any underbody armour as there was none on it !".....ffs again....Workshop is still paying for a local workshop, here, to fit the factory underbody armour tomoz...no charge, show of goodwill.
PLENTY of Morals to this Story but my biggest point is simple......working on your own car far outweighs letting 'unknowns' at it.
Fair dinkum....talk about 'killing a China man'....reckon I was the bloke behind the cannon in the original Chinese Tribal battles in a past life...jus sayin...ffs...again

Bloody hell Pete, what a drama!
I have been slack and haven't refitted the "Armour" off my old Jeep to this one...it's all still sitting in the corner. I didn't refit it all for the lap as I was already heavy anyway, and it would have to be 60kg's of extra dead weight to carry around...being the front end on mine is already heavy anyway due to the 35kg 10,000lb Smittybilt winch inside the 65kg ARB steel bullbar along with the Hardkorr spotlights!
I will likely refit them all at some point though...

IF I had 'checked' the cargo area when I picked it up it wouldnt have been an issue...back to Qld for the 'salt mines' tis arv, so unsure I'll get the time to take the bus to the local Workshop for the 'free fitting'
Probs just wait till I have the time to Service the transfer case and diffs, soon as they are 'due', and refit them myself while its up on the Hoist....will KNOW the jobs done right and no 'back of my mind feeling'....Paranoid ????....who said that ???

Mine is 8kg over on the front axle, 35kg bull bar, 30kg of bash plates and side steps nothing else other than 2 bums on seats, put it over the scales so we can be amazed................ or start me wondering why mine is over maybe.
