Default What tyres are best

Hi all, I have brought my first Jeep and know very little about them but will figure it out as I go with help from here, hopefully lol.

I got a Jeep Cherokee limited kJ 2002

My question is about tyres and how big can I go without modding the suppression, I currently have 235/70/16s on sports rims according to the factory catalogue that came with the car, spewing cause I like the limited rims better

I would like to fit big fat muddies that are also suitable for the road of course
What’s my best option ?

Could ask a tyre store but they fit what they think is best and would like some info from the people in the know when it comes to jeeps

Thanks all

Depends on whether you want it done legally. Not legal - sky’s the limit on 6” lift and 38+ muddies. Legal most States, is lift 50mm, tyre / wheel combo no more than 15mm increase diam over largest OEM option offered on that vehicle and increase to track width no more than 25mm (and obviously not protrude out of fenders, so larger fenders required usually). On yours a common upgrade would be 50mm lift and some aggressive 31.5 muddies like the BFG’s. Still might need to look at fenders protrusion. This last option is what I did to my TJ and I’m extremely happy with the look and the way it performs on And off road.

Maybe up to a 245/70 but no more. It won’t be all that mean. Most full M/T’s are aggressive so just shop around for what you like. Brand names best, like BFG ect...
