So did the radiator, coolant flush (replaced with 50/50 coolant) did a thermostat and put a trans cooler in. Did all this, runs super cool though.. hmm... Unsure what I've done wrong.. runs well but may use too much fuel haha. Did almost overheat it due to air in the system. Is this an issue being this cold?

Used a tridon thermostat. Unsure of its temp but the car doesn't move off that temp

Am beginning to think it's the thermostat...

Must've picked up the 180deg instead... Will be fine when summer comes

I understand there will be more wear. I am running 10w30 semi synthetic so it's pretty viscous even when cool. Its coming around to summer and I plan on using it, so I'll see how it goes. The cooling system is under no strain anymore, as I have 2 trans coolers (don't use the heat exchanger anymore lol) so will be interesting to see how it goes in summer. My XJ isn't 'old' either (141xxx kms) so a bit of wear won't kill it lol.
