Default Nhulunbuy/Gove trip June 2019

Ok so now that Arnhem Land has been opened up, I am wanting (& I have been for a few years) to do a trip in the JKU Rubicon.

I have a few questions for those in the know....

1. Given seasonal affects, what is the road in and out generally like?, Sand? Mud?, corrugations? Washouts? Jump ups? etc.
2. What is the best time to travel?
3. Will a heavy duty trailer manage the road? I know that caravans r excluded from travelling the road.
4. Wii using a roof top tent be the best bet?
5. Fuel seems 2B available along the route. Is this still the case?
6. Mud terrain tyres will be OK?

Thanks for all the advice that u will post.

It's just a dirt road, fuel at beswick and mainoru store. There are now bridges over the river crossings. Last time I drove it I towed a tandem trailer with 8x200L drums of Avgas and sat on 100kph.
Nearly always a bit rough around beswick however it is all relative as I drive a lot of top end dirt and think things are in good condition when that's prob not the case.

Oh and every bit of bush on the side of the road is owned by someone so don't be tempted to go exploring without permission as the TOs and pastrolests are very sick of trespassers. The only place you don't need a permit is on the central Arnhem road. The top road and all tracks are permit only
