Default New key cost WOW

So the key fob on my 2010 WH has been a bit glitchy lately, and finally the unlock and lock function has stopped working, changed the battery...no change.
Unlocking the car manually causes the alarm to go off and the only way to shut it off is to stick the fob near the key hole.

Sent the car in this morning for a new key and programming, $821.05. Sat there for 3 hrs only to have them send me home in a courtesy car, a further 3 hrs later they call me and say that the wcm has locked them out, it needs a new "wireless ignition node and module shift lock (steering column)", $1821.50 +labour. After a lot of venting I said call me when it is done. Do you have another car as it may be a few weeks? YES I laughed and said quite loudly 'if you own a late model Jeep another car is a must'.

Also had a snapped Park brake cable, 1600 fitted but have to wait 6 weeks for parts. I removed the offending cable in around an hour and had a new one made locally yesterday for $160. Once the car is functioning again it will be sold, this was Jeep number 5 for me (xj,tj,wg,jk,wh) and will definitely be my last.

Unfortunately the export fob is different, it can only be programed by Jeep and they will not program a key you purchase from outside their system.

I have regularly criticised FCA for their utter disdain for their customers both with the jeep brands below average reliability and indifferent dealer networks gouging the jeep owner straight to the poor house . But I reckon their unwillingness to program a key purchased outside their network maybe of interest to the ACCC as the whole car industry is currently under scrutiny for anti-competitive behaviour and jeep is one of a cabal of brands along with holden, ford and VW having to provide written undertakings and demonstrate to the ACCC that they will do more to look after their customers better.
