FRONT LOCKER
Jason,
Unless you have a leak in the locker. The compressor rarely comes on. Say once per hour for about 3 secs running front locker only.
My compressor holds pressure overnight still with enough air to operate the front locker once before it will cycle on.
Compressor doesn't even get warm. Only time it gets hot is when airing up.
I have just come back from snowy mountains and found the O rings inside the air locker go hard when below 0 deg C so they leak until you drive down the road and warm them up a bit. In my case I use the rear locker on slippery dirt roads to stop my XJ oversteer. I had the compressor cycling say every 5 mins for 5 secs until seals warmed up each morning. Problem is gone since I am back home.
I have been told there are different grades of O ring picked by their colour... I know nothing about them... so maybe fitting ones made of different grade silicon rubber fixes the cold weather problem.
Didn't try fitting under the rear seat. I still have factory jack and wheel brace etc on one side and 6 stacker CD on the other. I also wanted easy access for airing up so under hood or under seat were my two options.
I did think about fitting inside the rear quarter panel between the wheel arch and the tail lights. Never tried it but I think maybe there is enough space inside there.
I ruled out fitting it where the LHD steering box goes, it is too low and will drink water.
Cheers.
