Since first owning the 02KJ I have run:
1. Maxxis AT's for 30k replaced them with 40% tread remaining. A good basic AT. 245x70x16
2. Mickey Thompson ATZ's which I found a very good aggressive AT tyre. However like Pipes I experienced bad chipping when towing on the heavy gravel outback tracks. Retired them on approx. 60k with maybe 30% tread. 245x75x16
3. Hankook Mud Tyres. I found these a very good handling tyre both on & off road. Again retired these at 60k due to tyre noise as the tread wore down. Still approx. 20-30k tread left. 245x75x16
4. Finally up to retiring the KJ I ran BFG AT's which I travelled only 15k with approx. 60% tread remaining. 245x70x16

Now running BFG AT's on WB Grand

Probly won't be getting them again as they don't last, but they are cheap....

OK, these ^ dodgy tyres have been tossed and we had some Continental Conti Cross AT's fitted today.
No idea about these as they were fitted due to the shop not having anything else (and at a greatly reduced price).
Tread looks good and they are pretty quiet, so far so good.
Only down side - no white writing on the side walls - the wife isn't happy.. for the price - I am...
Anyone used these.?

A BIG thanks for keeping the thread alive.
It is starting to (slowly) become useful as I'd hoped.

Bought the car with Kumho Ht's on it. Based on what previous owners said, my estimate is 50-55K k's.
Replaced with Hankook RA23 (HT) 20K k's so far and 1mm or less tread wear.
Wifes car. 85% on road. Driven every day. She goes around corners too fast, and tends to brake late. (in my opinion)
If they were sold in Aust, would have fitted Hankook RF10's.

Disclaimer: I have my own tyre shop, so cost is not a factor. I try a bit of anything mid range and above. Wife comes in to work regularly, so pressure checks and inspection, followed by rotations and balancing as required do help to extend tyre life.

An Update on my 697's

Now at 50,000 km on them, wearing very well, slight rubbing on the shoulders off the tyre(however). Finding less time for them offroad with 98% onroad, and a lot of that onroad has become high speed onroad including high speed corners.

Increase in noise all round compared to the 694.
