Default Chassis Number Location - 1983 Cherokee

Hi all,

Having a bit of trouble registering my Jeep in WA. Car was originally a QLD vehicle and has been licensed over there. Trying to retrieve info from the PO at the moment as well.

So the VIN on the Jeep is stamped on 3 places on the body and is 13 digits.

The licensing people are saying they need a matching chassis number (which is supposed to be 9 digits post 1989? This doesn't make sense to me).

Anyway, I've located some ID stamps on the frame but are apparently incorrect.

Anyone have any ideas what to do in this situation? I've been directed to ask a Jeep dealership (couldn't muffle my laughter quick enough) or a mechanic (who it came from).

Or any ideas where a chassis number is?

Hope you can help.

Cheers,

Bernard

Awesome. Thanks.

If there's not one there, is it simply a case of telling the licensing people that it just never had one?

Not too sure but it gives you the opportunity to have it stamped with the correct number in the right location & registered
