Default New Camera help

Hey guys and gals i have been thinking of upgrading the old Nikon D70, i am not sure which way to go, i like the look and simplicity of the Olympus OM-D-E-M5 MKII, the guys at the camera shop love this camera and are urging me to jump on one and they say for what i want it for ill be happy as, but i just want to know what other options are available for me in the sub $1500 category? i want one to take pictures of the kids in various environments, sports (not serious sports, again just the kids), landscapes, low light etc i just need a good all rounder.

Help please!

Chris

Have you considered an Olympus SP-100EE?
Huge optical zoom, image stabilisation, has both a viewfinder and the rear screen.....for my use, I'm planning on it as my next camera.
It isn't a changeable lens style of camera, or a true SLR, but its pretty much the Rolls Royce of "point and shoot" cameras that does both pics and video.
Just depends what your needs are....its much cheaper than an SLR body/lens system camera.

I've been shooting Nikon for over 20 years. I like their ergonomics, the menu lay outs and the quality they build into every product.

What are you shooting mainly? Any specific or just general photography?

If you're happy with the lenses you currently have why not upgrade the body into the D7200? You're not learning an entirely new system, you current lenses and equipment will work with the new body and you'll then have the D70 as an "in case of emergency" back up.

I've found that I purchase glass, (lenses), to do specific tasks and they will generally out live the camera bodies. My 50 f/1.4D, 85 f/1.4D and 70-200 f/2.8 VR have been with me through my D100, D200, D700 and soon to be D810.
The Nikon 24-70 f/2.8G is only about 5 years old and the new Sigma 150-600S is about 4 months old.

I find point and shoot cameras to restrictive in creativeness and adaptability, a good DSLR can be adapted to suit any given occasion.

What lenses you have for your D70? If you already have a collection of lenses, it make sense just to upgrade the body to like D7200 etc.
Otherwise, Fujifilm X-T10 is a good choice if you go for the kit with XF 18-55 lens. You can't get any better with kit lens than this one.
I've been using Mamiya with Leaf back, Nikon, Olympus and Fujifilm for long time. If you ask for all rounder, I would say Fujifilm. It's easy to manage the photos after you've taken them as well. It's not for extreme sports or portrait, that's for Nikon. It's not purely for landscape like Leaf back. Or an light as Olympus ones.
