Default Need parts

Hey guys i really need to find some parts, i have a 98 TJ that i bought for my daughter, the guy said that the clutch switch was shot so i trusted that was the issue (idiot i know) but we cant get it started, i had an auto electrician look at it and he seems to think that its the key skimmer that is shagged, i dont suppose anyone has a TJ they are wrecking that has key skimmer, key and ECU or even just skimmer so i can get it reprogrammed?

i'm desperate at the moment

Chris

Not sure if the early models have the clutch switch disable fuse. This could be a quick check to eliminate at least one possibility. Fuse box under the bonnet, just fit a 10 amp fuse.

i bridged out the cables for the clutch switch already to rule that out, as soon as i turn the key to acc, i get the key on the dash with circle around it and line through it.

Doesn’t that symbol come up anyway as part of the dash light check sequence. Any codes thrown up?

Mine did that when the crank angle sensor shit itself.
Google how to check.
From memory there's no pulse at the injectors

You don’t need a code reader

Depending on year, use the ‘key trick’. My 2005 is turn the ignition from off to on accessory (don’t start it) six times leaving it in the accessory on position the sixth time. The Pxxxx codes will come up in quick succession followed by ‘Done’.

Write down the codes and google them.

Your year model might not be six times, but a variation - 4 or 5 for example. Give it a go.
