Default Thinking about selling my JK and going to the dark side !

Hi Ausjeepers,

as per title I am in the stage of "Considering" selling the my rescue green JKU.

I like my JK and over the last year I have spend quiet a bit of money in her.

got the car borg stock with nothing striaght up I have add the following

- ARB Front bar
- Cooper AT3 285 70 17 Tyres all round
- GDE Tune
- ARB Lift and Heavy duty Spring
- Rear ARB Diff cover
- Mopar GPS with uConnect
- Warn 10K winch
- AEV Caster Correction Kit
- All Oil Change
- UHF Radio
- HR Tow Bar
and maybe more stuff I can remember

any way long story short . I like the look of JK and especially the color however the gutless CRD (I am a petrol head) doesn't please me all the time, slow take off " not so fuel efficient (way off my expectation, I was expect to the fuel consumption to be around 11L/100 now is averaging 12.5-13.5 depending how I drive it )

Cars I have in mind either 2013 Toyota FJ Crusier or the New MY14 Jeep GC CRD which has much more power.

I dont do much od 4WD which I am very disappointing (since the build I have taken the car once to Menai yes once)

should I or Should I not ??

One of my mates took delivery of his brand new GC CRD. He drove it up from Sydney to Brisbane and averaged less than 8l/100km. And let me tell you that things gets up an boogie. I think it is quicker than my 3.6. Also the 8 speed auto is incredibly smooth. I am very impressed and is seriously considering a GC CRD as my next vehicle.

On the other hand another mate has a FJ. He drives it like my nanna and does not even get 12l to 100 on the open road.

Good luck with your dilemma. I also think you would get a much better trade in if you stuck with Jeep.

I know exactly what you are on about OP because I too love cars that perform well (I'm talking fast). A JK won't get you there unless you have a petrol V6 and supercharge it. All the other stuff you hear about is bullsh!t (air intakes, exhaust, chips blah blah), the only thing that will make it perform is forced induction or more cubes.

I've got a diesel 2012 GC. That goes much, much better.

But one thing I noticed from your post was how much weight you have added with all those mods... that really doesn't help. Mods are great, but weight is the biggest enemy when you want your car to feel responsive on the road. Front bar, rear bar, big tyres, winch... that alone is about an extra 200+kg, and then you have the other stuff. Under-powered engines really struggle pushing that extra weight along.

I understand perfectly, when I went to buy the Jeep I was told the CRD was a straight 4... I nearly walked out.

The fact that there is a v6 CRD from the same company that makes the I4, that weights the same, runs about the L/100 and was available as early as 2007 when the I4 was first dropped in, just rubs salt into the wound.

It's amazing how one tiny decision from some dickhead at Chrysler can turn a car from being a classic into just...meh.

I can understand your frustration but the FJ is not the answer maybe the GC.
