Lightbulb Perth - Broome Trip in the Works

Okay, I have finally convinced the missus to give up our annual overseas trip this year in lieu of a nice long road trip up to Broome and back.

Rough plan is to leave early June for 2 weeks, something like a night in Geraldton (brother in law lives there), then upto Monkey Mia for a night. Not sure on what the next stop over should be, need to do some more research so I'm up for some ideas!

We want to try and aim to get to Broome early enough to spend 3 nights up there and check the place out thoroughly - and relax from the drive.

We'll prolly hotel it in Broome, but will camp it every other night if possible, so will need to find some nice spots on the way up and back down again.

I think we'll probably take the interior on the way back down as I hate back tracking, and want to see as much as possible - well in two weeks anyway.

This will be my first trip further north than Kalbarri - so really looking forward to it - and the wife is super hyped as well.

Just wondering from all you folks who have done this trip what I should expect in June and any tips or secret camping spots would be cool.

Cheers!

We have done that trip but we ended up at Darwin!! We also camped all the way, but stayed at the Bali Hai in Broome as a treat on the way home http://www.broomevisitorcentre.com.a...code=17244very nice spot!!
Cable Beach Sunset

When you go through the inland make sure you stop for a night or two at Karijini NP, then go for a hike trough some of the gorges, you can camp while there.
Here are couple of pictures taken in Karijini.

Cheers

That pic of Cable Beach is simply stunning - did you take it?

I've heard so many great things about Exmouth - you'll have to let me know how the trip goes. You're going to have an awesome time. I wonder if we can spend a night there on the way to Broome!

mate if you can get a hold of one, put a bug guard on the front. i din't think i have ever been into exmouth without hitting a bloody locust swarm on the way in or out or both. i'm still picking the remains out of my intercooler from the last trip last year. three washes and i have finally got rid of the stuff off the vehicle. they just always seem to be there.

exmouth is a long way off the main coastal road but worth the look. make sure you go to the prawn processing works and get a goos feed of prawns... all fresh, none of that frozen stuff.

on the way up stop at thr point sampson caravan park, at point sampson
just out of roebourne, near wickham. beautiful spot and a few things to see at cossack and the local area. when you get to broome, take a run up to cape levique and one arm point, stopping at beagle bay mission on the way. the trip to broome isn't complete unless you do this run, up one day, back the next, staying overnight at cape levique. have a good run.
