Thumbs down Wire through Radiator

A piece of fencing wire went straight through the radiator yesterday (my birthday to boot) on the Mt Glorious Rd between Samford & base of Mt Glorious. Half an inch lower & it would have missed, it looks like the wire you put around a young plant to stop damage to them. Had to get towed all the way back to RACQ assessment shed on Zillmere Rd Zillmere.
Rang this am to tell me there sending it off to get repaired/replaced, hope it's replaced as at least it will be a new one, have to be a bright side somewhere

I expect it would be replaced, I doubt it could be repaired. If it has gone through a tube they are too thin to weld up unless it can be ally brazed like they do with air con fittings but I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone do that to rads.

Well, this happened on Tue 2nd, was towed to RACQ assessment yard that day so it could get looked at quickly ( HA ), 2 days later was told it would go to a shop called SmashCare. On Friday was told all approved & would maybe get it back as following Friday, but probably Mon or Tues nearly 2 weeks later as they take the radiator out then get Valley Radiators (in the Valley, Brisbane) to come & pick it up, decide what they're going to do with it, fix or repair, then send it back to SmashCare in Virginia/Geebung to install, I told them "don't touch". 2 WEEKS for a Radiator replacement, because that's all you can do with an aluminium core.
Feeling a bit miffed I rang Northside Radiators, who I wanted it taken to in the 1st place, & he said if it was there in am I'd have it back that pm. I then rang RACQ & told them all about this double/triple handling & that it was costing them money (rental car plus costs) & me time as this all ment I was stuck in Brisbane.
They said they'd get back to me
